About the role

We are looking for a full-time Community Social Worker to join our team based at the Vinnies Welfare & Services office in Newtown, Wellington. As the sole Social Worker within the Wellington Society, you must be confident within your discipline, resilient, self-motivated and take charge of your role and its development. You will assist a diverse range of clients seeking support for a wide range of challenges and crises.

About you

You will be registered (provisional/full) with the NZ Social Workers Registration Board or eligible for registration. You will ideally have experience working in a community setting, working independently and as part of a team, and bring an understanding of the complex social issues facing Wellingtons diverse communities. You must be able to work in a collaborative way, deliver a client-centred service, have a passion for people and their well-being and enjoy a good laugh.

To be successful you will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a wish to pursue social justice. The successful candidate will also be innovative, proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, and creative with a positive approach to all situations including problem solving. Your ability to think on your feet and be experienced at working under pressure with a solution focused approach will be ideal.

You must hold a full, clean NZ drivers’ licence.
