In 2014 IFSW, IASSW and ICSW adopted a Global Definition of Social Work: http://ifsw.org/get-involved/global-definition-of-social-work/
The Following year IFSW Asia Pacific and APASWE approved a Regional Amplification of the Global Definition.

The next stage is to develop a National Amplification for Aotearoa New Zealand. To replicate the partners who developed the Global Definition, partners developing the National Amplification would include ANZASW (IFSW), TWSWA (IFSW), CSWEANZ (IASSW) and Hui-E (ICSW).

What is proposed is that each National Partner identifies key elements of a National Amplification for Aotearoa New Zealand. The Partners then come together to craft an agreed National Amplification.

Both the Global Definition and the Asia Pacific Regional Amplification are in the attached document.

In 2014 it was agreed that “Amplifications on national and/or regional levels shall not interfere with the meaning of the elements of the definition and with the spirit of the whole definition”.

Branches, Roopu and Special Interest Groups are invited to identify key elements they believe need to be included in the ANZASW concept for a National Amplification. Branches, Roopu and Special Interest Groups may also want to develop a full National Amplification Statement for consideration.
