Board Appointment, Te Whare Pounamu, Dunedin

Te Whare Pounamu Dunedin seeks expressions of interest of suitably qualified and experienced professionals who wish to be considered for the position of Board Member for their Board.  Te Whare Pounamu Dunedin was established in the late 1970s and is an independent community organisation working at many levels. From our contact with individuals and families through to involvement with local community and government agencies, we strive to help prevent and stop domestic violence. Incumbent Boards are expected to seek reelection.

Board members will need to have sound governance experience including such attributes as: a mature understanding of the role of governance and management, and who supports Board decisions even when these go against personal views, a positive and respectful person, a person who understands the organisation’s vision and strategic direction, displays sound strategic thinking, and who can understand economic, political, social and technical factors that have an impact. All Boards are expected to have a demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The overall mix of Board Members is important, and we seek to have a board able to support the operational function and guide the organisation’s direction.  Board Members should be well networked with respect to communities in Dunedin and understand the issues facing the organisation.  Meetings are held bi-monthly.
