Infant and Maternal Mental Health Integration Clinician – Nelson, Marlborough

About the role
This role will focus on increased and targeted support for infants and parents/ carers, across the continuum of care, including infant-parent relationships and interactions. You will collaborate with other health care providers working to ensure that appropriate services and support are offered to women/ carers and their infants, who are at risk of longer term poor outcomes.
You will provide consultation, assessment and support for parents who are primary carers for an infant/ young child. You will with work with families and whanau with severe mental health and/ or addiction issues, to reduce the impact of this on the infant. You will also promote parental and MHAS awareness, sensitivity and responsiveness to the social and emotional needs of infants.
You will hold a recognised qualification in Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work, with a current practising certificate, and will have ideally a minimum of three years post graduate experience in mental health and addictions. You will confidently undertake mental status examinations, risk assessments, treatment planning, monitoring and evaluation with have the personal attributes required to effectively encourage, persuade and influence this client group.
You will ideally have further training, or a formal qualification, related to infant and maternal mental health – with experience in the delivery of services to infants and their family/ whanau.
