About the role

If you have been working in social services and are now ready to step up to a leadership role this is your opportunity.  Special new position managing the team delivering programmes designed to make a real difference.  Under the direction of the Manager – Social Services the position supervises staff and contractors providing Family Harm, Family Care and non-violence and safety services as well as personally carrying out social worker duties in the community.

The scope of the role covers all activities required by Police, Ministry of Justice and Department of Corrections contracts secured by The Fono.

40 hours per week – flexitime – salaried position.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to lead our great team of practioners.  You will:

  • Have a sound understanding of the non-violence sector
  • Not need to have a qualification in the field but must have suitable proven expertise
  • Be a tremendous relationship builder and sustainer and have the ability to develop rapport with a wide range of people
  • Be skilful and experienced in supervision
  • Show enthusiasm – able to be shared with the reporting team
  • Have the skills to report succinctly and accurately in written and verbal form on any aspect of the services provided.

The Fono is looking for a keen social worker or counsellor to join our Family Harm (family violence) Team.  This team provides crisis intervention support to Pacific families experiencing family violence then coordinates relationships with key agencies specialising in services to families in need.  Transitioning them to other services to provide ongoing support and progress.

This 40 hour per week position based in Northcote, North Shore is a special opportunity and requires a versatile, experienced social / family worker looking for an exciting new role.

Family Start is a free service for parents and caregivers who are facing challenges making parenting harder. The Family Start Worker’s role is to support families to become more confident with their parenting and to improve their overall social, education and health outcomes.

Key Requirements:

  • Social worker experience
  • Value the Family Start approach to working with families
  •  Know how to access community resources for families
  •  Be computer literate
  •  Have a full Drivers Licence
  •  Prefer a Level B social work qualification
