Are you an experienced health professional and seeking an amazing opportunity to join our Student Health and Counselling service? The Outreach and Wellbeing role provides education, advice, support, to our students on mental health from a promotion and wellbeing perspective. A component of the role is running an outreach counselling clinic.
You will be joining the Health and Counselling team working with Massey staff and services across the University, including the halls of residence. You will have the ability to work flexibly in a busy health and university environment. Enjoy the challenge of developing and delivering new concepts, training and education according to the assessed needs of students, the direction of the university and health trends, supporting our students to be successful through their academic journey. Increasing their mental health literacy.
You’re someone who can establish trust and form therapeutic relationships with clients, has experience in assessment, care planning, referrals and brief intervention with great written and oral communication skills. Group facilitation skills would also provide a distinct advantage.
You will also need a working knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi, an understanding of different cultural approaches to health to increase access to our service. Have the ability to work collaboratively within our vibrant and diverse student community.
Knowledge and experience of the health system and political environment, ideally working within mental health. This role would suit a Registered Mental health Nurse, Social Worker, Counsellor, Health Promoter.
