Invercargill Community Mental Health, Invercargill, Southland

  • 2 x Permanent 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)
  • Get ahead in Southland

No long commute, no traffic jams, free onsite parking and a good work life balance…It all starts here.

Nowhere in New Zealand is it as easy to live, drive to work, afford a decent lifestyle and be so accessible to the outdoor adventures on offer in this part of the world. If you’re seeking that elusive blend of time to do what you love in life, combined with your Social Work passion and the need to make a difference in the lives of our clients, then we believe joining our team in Southland might just tick all the boxes.

In this Social Worker role, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team based out of Southland Hospital, working in a case management capacity to deliver a supportive service to our clients.  You’ll work autonomously but will be well embedded in a team of equally dedicated mental health professionals.  We need you to be able to demonstrate your effective communication skills and your ability to think on your feet while exuding calmness under pressure.

You’ll have an excellent set of skills – written and oral communication; needs assessment; networking; advocacy; critical thinking and time management skills. Plus you’ll have the ability to support and empower the consumer and the family/whanau to reach their goals.  Previous experience in a mental health social work position, ideally within a community setting will be a distinct advantage.

Team fit is key, so you must be able to demonstrate commitment and innovation in your work, whilst supporting and collaborating with your colleagues.

You must hold a professional social worker qualification (as per Social Worker Registration Board schedules for registration eligibility i.e. Bachelor’s degree equivalent) and be Registered and hold a current annual practicing certificate with Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) within 3 months of appointment.  A current full driver license is required.

Closing date: Sunday 16 December 2018.
