Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and SWRB Requirements

Barbara is the Principal Advisor (Social Work Practice) at the Social Workers Registration Board and she has been in this role for the last 6 years. Previous social work practice has included 15 years at Oranga Tamariki (the then CYF) in a variety of social work roles including 6.5 years as a Care and Protection Co-ordinator, Supervisor, Team Leader and Senior Advisory Office in National Office. Subsequent to joining the SWRB Barbara was the Director of Catholic Social Services in Wellington.
Barbara presents a number of books which she states will be useful for social workers. These books are:

Abstract:
Navigating CPD, SWRB requirements and some advice and support around Core Competency 6: Competence to understand and articulate social work theories, indigenous practice knowledge, other relevant theories, and social work practice methods and models.
Learning Outcomes:
- Know SWRB requirements for a CPD log
- Ability to write appropriate critical reflections for your CPD log
- State what comprises Core Competency 6, describe appropriate CPD related to CC6 and write critical reflections which meet SWRB standards
