When? 3rd May (official opening at 7.30pm) to 5th May (closing 1pm, after lunch) 2019.
Delegates are welcome to arrive at Carey Park from 4pm on the Friday to settle in. Dinner is provided on the first night. The conference will kick off at 7.30pm.
Where? One Big Adventure, Carey Park, West Auckland
For who? Anyone who works in, or is interested in Adventure Therapy or related fields. This could include, but is not limited to, Occupational Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Whanau Ora workers, Outdoor instructors and similar fields.
Why? Connect with the community of Adventure, Nature and Experiential based practitioners while having a heap of fun in a beautiful location. Deepen your understanding of Adventure Therapy in Aotearoa. Engage in Academic and practical applications of Adventure Therapy. Support, connect, learn from and encourage others who work in a similar field.
Getting there: For those flying into Auckland we can provide shuttles from the airport to the conference. There are 4 shuttle options, departing hourly from the airport starting at 3.30pm with the last shuttle leaving the airport at 6.30pm. If this is required please indicate on your registration form.

Food: Food will be provided by One Big Adventure camp. If you have dietary requirements, please let us know on the registration form.
Accommodation: Bunk style accommodation is provided with you registration fees. There is no camping allowed at this venue. You’re welcome to organize your own accommodation offsite, however if you do take this option any transport requirements are yours to organize.
The programme: The programme will includes a mixture of workshops and presenters, as well as time to mix, adventure and connect with others.
Pre-conference: Graham Pringle, Youth Flourish (from Australia) is running a workshop on Trauma Focused Adventure Therapy in the 2 days prior to the conference in Auckland. For more information Check out their website https://www.youthflourish.org
Speakers: We are very excited to announce that we have two awesome keynote speakers – Nevin Harper from Canada and a very special tangata whenua speaker who can’t quite be announced yet! Watch this space though!
What to bring: Sleeping bag, pillow, earplugs for guaranteed silence in the bunk rooms, clothing for all weather, general adventuring clothes for the adventure based workshops on the Saturday of the conference.
*All technical equipment for the adventure afternoon will be supplied.
If you feel you don’t have the right stuff just ask and we can bring along some spares.
Registration fee: Registration includes Friday and Saturday night accommodation; Dinner Friday night through to lunch Sunday; Venue hire; amazing adventure activities on the Saturday afternoon, and a whole lot of good times and invaluable connections and learning!
Early Bird cost (before 15th April 2019): $290.00 pp
Student rate/Unwaged: $220.00 pp
Late Bird (after 15th April): $340.00
We do not want this registration fee to be a hindrance for people attending! If you feel you cannot afford this, please contact us with what is realistic for you and we can arrange additional support for you. If you are interested in being a volunteer during the conference we do have a few spots for this, please email us and this may allow for a discount.
