Baylys Beach

Drumming is an accessible and exciting modality to work and play with! I have been sharing my love of drumming with individuals and groups for more than ten years now. I have had six trips to West Africa including recently living there for a year, arriving back in NZ in early Feb 2018.

What I have seen there affirms my belief in the health and general therapeutic benefits of drumming, especially in groups. There have been many research papers written over the years, check online for some very interesting articles.

The two-day workshop will involve basic drum skills/techniques, learning rhythms and games that are simple to facilitate, building on a structure that helps a group work together and being able to experience the joy of drumming.

Drums are provided along with other percussion instruments.

Josie works as a Creative Arts Therapist, Counsellor, Supervisor and Trainer. She offers counsellors, therapists and social workers the opportunity to recharge, realise their creative potential and add new techniques to their toolkit in the unique setting of Baylys Beach.
