Care Guide Coordinator, Harbour Hospice, North Shore
Job Title: Care Guide Coordinator
Hours: 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week)
Location: Based at North Shore but will require travel as needed to other Hospice Sites

About the role:
This brand-new role new role will coordinate the volunteer support of patients and their whānau who are based in the community but are not at the trajectory of their illness where they require specialist palliative care from Hospice Clinicians. It will also coordinate volunteer support for those patients who are new to and within the Hospice service and have limited support networks in the community.
Reporting to the Volunteer Services Team Leader the Care Guide Coordinator will be responsible for the creation of a Care Guide Programme, development of programme training material and facilitating the delivery of the training programme to new volunteers.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Recruitment and ongoing support of volunteer care guides
- Working closely with Clinical Teams & Volunteer Services to identify patient needs for support
- Managing Volunteer Health & Safety in conjunction with Clinicians
- Collating relevant information and recording the data in the relevant database/spreadsheets
It goes without saying, you will be a real people person. You will have the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people from a wide range of backgrounds. From clinicians, patients, volunteers and other external stakeholders you’ll be comfortable on the phone, having face to face meetings, taking part in MDT’s and standing up in front of a group to present your training course. No matter where you are or who you’re speaking to, you’ll be in your comfort zone.
What else are we looking for in you?
- A clinical qualification in any discipline e.g. Nursing, Social Worker, OT
- Great planning and organizational skills
- Previous experience within Palliative Care would be great
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and database management skills
- Leadership experience would be advantageous
