The Role:

We have a need to boost the leadership and management of our Social Work and Human Services team.   Guiding your team to contribute to social work and support worker education in programmes underpinned by principles of social justice, bicultural practice and empowering others to promote personal and social change. The programmes are delivered at our Madras St or Timaru campus and include the Bachelor of Social Work, the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing and the Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Supervision. There is some opportunity to contribute to teaching in some parts of the programme or research but the main focus will be professional and educational leadership.

The successful applicant will work with a team of staff who are experienced social workers and educators. This may suit an experienced educator who is wanting to combine an academic teaching or research career with professional leadership and management.

Due to continued growth in student numbers the team is an evolving and growing one and this will be an opportunity to guide, coach and support with planning, contributing to budgeting and overall operational management of the portfolio.


  • Registered Social Worker
  • A PhD or master’s degree in social work or related discipline
  • A broad range of social work practice skills
  • Experience in tertiary education
