The Cancer Services: Psychology and Social Work Team has a 0.8 (FTE) vacancy for a Social Worker. This service provides support to people from high suspicion of cancer, through diagnosis to the end of active cancer treatment. You will provide purposeful social work assessments and interventions with adults and their family/whānau across in-patient, out-patient and community settings.

The successful candidate will be client-centred in their approach and have good counselling skills.  Experience in a hospital inpatient setting and/or community social work experience is preferable. This is a demanding role working with patients and family/whānau from diverse cultural backgrounds across grief and loss issues, acute and chronic illness, complex problem solving and risk assessment. You will be an effective communicator and a key member of a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

You should hold a bachelor of Social Work degree and be registered with the New Zealand SWRB. ANZASW membership is preferred.
