Supervisor – Mana Whānau Intensive In-Home Parenting Support, Auckland
Lifewise Family Services (based in New Lynn) is looking for an experienced supervisor to play a key role in the growth of our exciting programme which supports children to live safely within their own families and whānau.
This innovative programme was developed by Lifewise and supported by Oranga Tamariki as an alternative to foster care. Our skilled team supports parents and whānau to build their capability and provide safe, nurturing care for their children.
The programme differs from other approaches in that staff work intensively with the whānau in their homes for six months. The aim is to work with parents whose core capabilities are challenged by stress and trauma, to identify and reduce the stressors. Staff work alongside parents providing positive opportunities to develop and practice skills.
As supervisor you will lead a team to grow this programme. This includes working alongside other key personnell to identify families suitable for the Mana Whānau programme – assessing and accepting referrals and providing day-to-day case management and support to a team of family workers. The family workers provide support and interventions based on the latest neuroscientific research to reduce stressors and create positive opportunities where parents can develop and practice core capabilities.
Mana Whānau is whānau led and looks different in every home as it is responsive to the priorities, skills, capabilities and culture of each family and whānau.
We are looking for someone who has a learning mindset, is passionate about doing what it takes to support families to stay together and can think outside of the box.
