|Kia Ora, Social Work is my passion.
Foster care parent for 8+ years supplying a home for children in Child Youth & Family (Oranga Tamariki) and the Open Home Foundation service. The Social Worker role I had with the Open Home Foundation was for 3 years managing foster care placements.
My role as a Social Worker for District Health Board 1 year supporting patients discharged back into the Community.
I worked in Pathways residential service for 1 year supporting those in Pathways service managing day to day living and goal planning for the future. My role with Idea services was to work 1×1 with clients achieve day to day living and support clients achieve their goals with employment, shopping etc for a year.
I also worked as Tutor with community Mental Health service providing self-esteem building workshops for a year.
I was employed in the Salvation Army early childhood to teen / young adult program I was the coordinator managing a volunteer staff of 5, I introduced teens and adults to life skills in the community for a year.
I worked in Family Start Hauraki /Āhuru Mōwai (Parents as first teachers), my role in this program was not only to introduce the Family Start program to Hauraki and manage a case load of young mothers and partners but to introduce Āhuru Mōwai in support of Plunket and early child development millstones, with Whānau and early child development, I did this for 6 years.
I took part in Supporting Domestic violence network intervention by way of “Poll 400” call outs and follow-ups with home visits to assess victims and perpetrators. I did this for two plus years.
I worked and help develop a Palliative care model within Te Korowai Hauora O Hauraki, We started with Hospice and later District Health Board. After 5 years I was the coordinator, developer and introduced client to Oranga Wairua Maori palliative service a the social work for 8 years. I worked with Kaiwhakaora ( Maori Healer) and alternative Medications around Palliative care with Maori, and non-Maori clientele of Te Korowai Hauora O Hauraki.

|Having experienced two health “scares” of my own, heart and prostate which are know healthy has challenged my own feeling around mortality and life in general.
To know what this is and being able to reflect through it give you an understanding of what matters and what doesn’t.
