Ongoing Training: I have enrolled to start my thesis in 2019 at Massey University Palmerston North.
Experience:  10 years’ experience as a social worker for a NGO in the Disability Sector, this role is ongoing.  Working with adults and children with learning disabilities and their families.  Psycho-social assessments with families to identify strengths and areas that they would like to work on.

2 years provided group supervision on a monthly basis to a group of 6-10 phone counsellors
lead for 10 social work students on placement which included internal supervision on a fortnightly basis

In the last 18 months started providing external supervision for social work students on placement and qualified social workers working in community.

Supervision Interests:  I am passionate about new graduates being supported to be successful in their new profession.  Supporting supervisees to reflect on their practice in a safe environment.  A space that allows you to incorporate theory into practice and build your own practice framework.  Incorporating ethical decision making and risk management, safe practice and self care.

Advocating for the rights of those in our communities who are marginalised and often not heard.  Developing skills enabling social workers to be able to communicate with people who may not be able to communicate verbally.

I am available on alternative Wednesdays from my home office in the Chartwell area and evening by arrangement.   Happy to meet for a coffee to discuss further.
