Current Training: Doctor of Social Work – Massey University – exploring social work values for social workers that move into management roles.
Professional Experience:  Trained as a social worker to work with offenders (Probation Officer), and after several years moved into addiction counselling for several years. From that after further training to primary and community counselling for mental health including team leadership for about 8 years. Following this I practised privately for many yeas as a psychotherapist (including with New Zealand Aids Foundation) and worked as a manager within mental health services focussing on service development and redesign.
Supervision Interests/Approaches/Type: Predominantly in the areas of criminal justice and social work, and in mental health social work including counselling and counselling skills or psychotherapy. I have some experience and knowledge in working with LGBTTi community.
Predominantly adopt a contemporary psychoanalytic approach including reflective practice and self awareness.
Experience too in team leadership, managing complex relationships and situations alongside leadership and management development.
Strive for culturally safe practice and awareness.
