|30 years experience across a diverse range of Government and Non Government Services – ranging from special education, children with severe and challenging behaviour, adult mental health & addictions, foster care, children and youth with high and complex needs, disabilities, child protection, family violence, therapeutic community model & residential settings for mothers and their children.
I have enjoyed various roles through my career, they have ranged from senior management, practice lead, development of services, supervision, writing and facilitating programmes and front line social work.
Some highlights of my career have been developing a residential therapeutic community; formulating and implementing child protection, risk management, developing practice guidelines for individual and peer supervision and working within a family violence pilot programme (Integrated Safety Response).
A key highlight was also establishing and training compassionate communication programme for both staff in a NGO setting and families within the community.
|Supervision Interests/Approaches/Type: *|
|I deeply value the importance of the supervision relationship and the need to provide a safe, supportive space where there is the freedom to openly express your self – with the confidence that your voice will be heard in an empathic, confidential and non-judgemental setting.
I provide a supervision setting that welcomes, the difficult and challenging conversations, provides an opportunity to process and reflect on the dynamics and realities of being a social worker in Aotearoa. With the goal that solutions and problem solving can be discovered, success can be celebrated, knowledge and skills strengthened and insight and awareness further developed.
Some integral values that underpin my supervision approach are authenticity, integrity, accountability, empowerment, social justice, upholding individuals self-determination, adhering to social work ethics, cultural awareness and a practice that embeds and upholds the principles within Te Tiriti ō Waitangi.
Some other aspects I am interested in are the challenges related to: integrating theory into practice; team dynamics; management systems and structures, assessments, attachment theory, service development and high and complex case work.
I also have experience and ongoing interest in the areas of student supervision and the benefits of group and peer supervision.
I am available to provide supervision face to face and/or via zoom or skype.
|Anything else you want to add?||I am also available for coaching and mentoring, as my experience has been through my career that at times we may need some guidance or support from a third perspective. This may range from
providing some practical guidance through the registration process
providing guidance for social workers who may be experiencing difficult situations in their work place and are seeking a confidential third perspective. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your specific need if you are seeking coaching or mentoring.
