Te Paa Harakeke is a metaphor for protecting Māori culture, pūrākau, whenua, and whānau wellbeing, offering a framework for child protection and whānau oranga within a Kaupapa Māori and mātauranga Māori space. This ā kanohi event will introduce Te Paa Harakeke as a practical framework for working alongside whānau and within supervision contexts – rich, inspiring and not to be missed! This is an in-person event and will not be recorded.

Social work is shaped by a myriad of relational contexts that define knowledge, truth and meaning. Our social work Code of Ethics invites social workers to attend to wairuatanga - the spiritual, emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing of self and others - while recognising whakapapa, self-awareness, and self-care. This exploration invites us to consider spirituality as authenticity that is personal, cultural, and ecological, and to ask whether we can sustain it through the paradox of courage and vulnerability in our practice across Aotearoa and the Pacific Rim.
