Social work is shaped by a myriad of relational contexts that define knowledge, truth and meaning. Our social work Code of Ethics invites social workers to attend to wairuatanga - the spiritual, emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing of self and others - while recognising whakapapa, self-awareness, and self-care.
This exploration invites us to consider spirituality as authenticity that is personal, cultural, and ecological, and to ask whether we can sustain it through the paradox of courage and vulnerability in our practice across Aotearoa and the Pacific Rim.
